I’m Jackie Wynn—lifelong horse girl, body nerd, and someone who is passionate about empower owners and riders to learn simple ways to help themselves and understand their horses.
Shoshin Equestrian & SomaRide were born from my own shift—from striving for performance outcomes to seeking a two-way relationship, softness, and willingness with horses. “Shoshin” means beginner’s mind, and that mindset has become my compass as I explore the intersections of biomechanics, bodywork, nervous system awareness, and somatic movement—for both horse and human. This work is my heartfelt offering: a place to explore what’s possible when we shift from control to curiosity with our horses—and ourselves. I intend to be ever evolving (my growth game is strong!!), and this space will reflect that.
My own re-return to riding (after six years off as a mom) was the jumping point of my exploration beyond equine bodywork to the study of human movement and the nervous system. Through that I came upon Clinical Somatic Education. The improvements I felt in my body led me to get certified in Clinical Somatic Education through the Somatic Movement Center. In 2024, I became the fourth SMC Certified Exercise Instructor in all of Virginia. With a BS in Elementary Education, I have always had the heart of a teacher!
I was fortunate that my father was a fantastic horseman and trainer. I have years of real world experience starting and restarting horses, teaching, and competing across multiple disciplines (western, hunter/jumper, eventing, dressage, and even hunting) I came back to horses with fresh eyes and a new question: What if true partnership begins when we stop trying so hard and start listening more deeply? I am driven to support others so that they can also exploring the nuances of merging performance and connection.
Did you know that equine bodyworker certifications do not have any prior horse or riding experience requirements? One of my greatest strengths is my decades of riding, teaching, and training experience. I approach sessions through the lens of both horse and rider biomechanics and discipline requirements, and that is very different from memorizing anatomy and bodywork technique during a certification course. I don't just know bodywork. I know horses. I know riders.
My work fully supports both horse and rider in showing up with more confidence and less pain to create happier rides.
Move better. Feel better. Ride better.
